Also late of the Prince Consort's Own 95th Rifle brigade and of her Majesty Queen Victoria's special military black operations unit. Alan Tiberius Blackmore became firm friends with James Bass after many covert and perilous incursions shared together behind enemy lines.

Promoted to the rank of Major and highly decorated for his service to the Crown and his country, Blackmore, along with his comrade James Bass upon his own retirement from military service with full honours in the year of 1885, were both offered the rank of Special Detective Inspectors (SDI) in the service of the Metropolitan Police Force under the command of Chief Superintendent Frank Abilene of Leman Street Division, Whitechapel District, City of London.
